SHANGHAI, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Expo Milano 2015 will be a golden opportunity for Chinese companies to gain access to and flourish in Italy and the European Union, Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi said here on Tuesday.
Renzi is in Shanghai for a three-day official visit, his first China trip since taking office in February.
In his speech at the Shanghai Italian Center, Renzi, who visited the Shanghai Expo in 2010 as mayor of Florence, said next year's expo would serve as a platform to deepen China-Italy cooperation.
He said his visit aims to boost two-way trade between the two countries.
With one national pavilion and two corporate pavilions, China will be "the strongest presence" at Expo Milano, according to Commissioner Giuseppe Sala of the Italian Government for the exposition.
Renzi flew to Beijing later on Tuesday, where he was due to meet top Chinese leaders.
