RAMADI, Iraq, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Gunmen stormed campus of Anbar University in Iraq's western province of Anbar early Saturday, a provincial police source said.
Dozens of students and teachers were held in the school buildings, and the attackers were in fierce clashes with security forces, said the same source.
46 killed, 103 wounded in violence in northern Iraq
BAGHDAD, June 6 (Xinhua) -- At least 46 people were killed and 103 others wounded in car bomb attacks and clashes in Iraq's northern province of Nineveh on Friday, police said.
Seven people were killed and 46 others injured when two car bombs exploded in the village of Tehraoh near Nineveh's provincial capital Mosul, some 400 km north of Baghdad, a local police source told Xinhua. Full story
Iran condemns deadly "terrorist" attack on Iraqi city
TEHRAN, June 6 (Xinhua) -- The Iranian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned a recent deadly "terrorist" attack on the Iraqi city of Samarra, Tasnim news agency reported on Friday.
Iran's Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham slammed the assault as a "frenzied attack," expressing concern about a possible surge in the terrorist operations in Iraq, the report said. Full story
UN calls more efforts to beef up Iraq's national unity
UNITED NATIONS, June 5 (Xinhua) -- The UN Security Council on Thursday reiterated its call on all parties in Iraq to work together to strengthen the country's national unity, sovereignty and independence.
The 15-nation UN council, in a statement, urged "Iraq's leaders to engage, as quickly as possible, to form a government that represents the will and sovereignty of the Iraqi people." Full story
