LJUBLJANA, June 2 (Xinhua) -- An international military exercise, code named Adriatic Strike 2014, kicked off in different places in Slovenia, the Slovenian Armed Forces said in a press release on Monday.
Around 400 soldiers, with half from Slovenia, and a total of 23 aircraft and 13 unmanned aerial vehicles, are involved in the military drill, which is to train joint terminal attack controllers (JTAC).
JTAC is the term used in the United States Armed Forces for a qualified military service member who, from a forward position, directs the action of combat aircraft engaged in close air support and other offensive air operations.
The United States, France, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Macedonia and Montenegro are involved in the exercise, which will be carried out in training bases in Postojna, Gotenica, Sevnica, and Porezen.
In addition, military representatives from Egypt, Italy, Jordan and Saudi Arabia are also invited to observe the drill.
