BRATISLAVA, May 16 (Xinhua) -- European issues need to be addressed continually, rather than only ahead of European Parliament elections, European Commission Vice-President Maros Sefcovic said Friday.
Engaged in a debate with Italian senator and former prime minister Mario Monti and Czech Foreign Affairs Minister Lubomir Zaoralek at the GLOBSEC Bratislava Global Security Forum (GLOBSEC 2014), Sefcovic said European affairs should be part of policies in each country and should be dealt with by national parliaments.
Meanwhile, the three officials concurred in the need for a strong and unified Europe. However, Monti admitted that there are many things that the EU can do better.
The GLOBSEC 2014 international security conference took place in Bratislava from May 14 to 16.
