KABUL, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Units of police backed by the army have killed 37 Taliban militants during series of operations across the country over the past 24 hours, Ministry of Interior ( MoI) said in a statement released here Friday.

"The operations which launched on Thursday and have covered parts of Kunduz, Faryab, Saripul, Kandahar, Zabul, Uruzgan, Wardak, Logar, Ghazni, Khost, Paktia, Farah and Helmand provinces have left 37 rebels dead, six injured and four others detained over the past 24 hours," the statement contended.

However, the statement didn't say if there were any casualties on the security forces.

Conflicts and militancy have gotten new momentum since the launch of the so-called Taliban spring offensive on May 12 in the militancy-hit Afghanistan.
