India's BJP leader unleashes anger on "particular community"

English.news.cn   2014-05-14 16:18:29

NEW DELHi, May 14 (Xinhua) -- A senior leader of India's opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) made controversial remarks on Wednesday, hinting that all terrorists belong to one particular community.

"Since terrorism is a matter relating to the country and not to a community, why secular leaders remain silent when all persons arrested in terrorism cases belong to a particular community," said Giriraj Singh.

Singh, from the eastern state of Bihar, had caused a controversy recently by saying that all Muslims in India had to choose between supporting Narendra Modi, the BJP prime ministerial candidate, or going to arch-rival Pakistan, where Muslims dominate the population.

The BJP witnessed a landslide victory in Bihar in the general elections, according to exit polls.
