BAGHDAD, May 11 (Xinhua) -- A total of 13 people were killed and 11 others injured on Sunday evening across Iraq in separate insurgent attacks that mainly targeted security forces, police and medical sources said.
Six policemen were killed and three others wounded on Sunday evening in an attack by an armed group at a police headquarter in the town of Baaj, 390 km northwest of the capital Baghdad, in Iraq 's northern province of Nineveh, a local police source said.
Two soldiers were killed and four other soldiers and three civilians wounded when a suicide bomber launched a car bomb attack on the headquarters of Nineveh operation command in the provincial capital of Mosul, some 400 km north of Baghdad, the source said.
In south of Mosul, unidentified gunmen stormed the house of a brother of Najim Abdullah, a member of the Nineveh provincial council, killing him before they fled the scene.
Meanwhile, four soldiers were killed and another wounded on Sunday night when gunmen attacked a checkpoint in south of Kirkuk, 250 km north Baghdad, police said.
These evening attacks came after a total of 41 people were killed and 30 others injured in separate violent attacks across the country earlier in the day.
