GHAZNI, Afghanistan, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Afghan forces have killed 50 Taliban militants including a shadowy district governor in Ghazni province on Tuesday, a local official said.

"The units of national security forces kicked off operations against anti-government armed militants in Purdol and Janal villages of Gilan district early today morning and so far 50 Taliban rebels including a shadowy governor Mullah Habibullah have been killed," spokesman for provincial governor Shafiq Nang told Xinhua.

Around 30 more militants have been injured during the operations, he added.
