DHAKA, May 4 (Xinhua) -- Eight people were killed and 15 others wounded in lightning in different districts of Bangladesh on Saturday, local officials and reports in the country's capital said.
Most of the killed and wounded were farmers who were working in their crop land. One student was killed and five others were wounded while they were playing football in Tamgail about 100 kilometers north of Bangladesh's capital.
The wounded students received medical treatment at a hospital in Tangail.
The other dead and wounded people were in western Meherpur, northeastern Kishoreganj, southeastern Noakhali and northwestern Dinajpur districts.
These districts were hit by storm when the lightning killed and wounded the people.
