OTTAWA, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper said on Friday that Canadian troops will participate in a military exercise in Poland next week as part of NATO reassurance measures in Central and Eastern Europe.
Some 50 servicemen from the third Canadian Division based in Edmonton, Alberta, and support staff were expected to leave for the Exercise ORZEL ALERT on May 5-9.
The Canadian troops will conduct training in parachuting, airborne operations and infantry skills alongside Polish and American counterparts in this U.S.-led exercise with a view to enhancing Alliance interoperability and readiness.
Canadian and Polish paratroopers trained together in Quebec, Canada, from Jan. 28 to Feb. 5.
