SOFIA, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Bulgarian police at Silistra checkpoint near the border with Romania have seized 35 kg of heroin hidden in a van Mercedes traveling to Western Europe, an official said Thursday.
The drug, split into 65 packets, was found on Monday in the ceiling of the Bulgaria-registered car, Svetlozar Lazarov, secretary general of the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior said at a press conference.
Since the beginning of the year, the ministry seized two tons of drugs and precursors, as much as during the whole 2012, Lazarov said.
