Dutch police satisfied with Nuclear Security Summit operation

THE HAGUE, March 26 (Xinhua) -- The Dutch police are satisfied with the public order, security and mobility during the Nuclear Security Summit in The Hague, the largest police operation ever in the Netherlands, said the police on Wednesday.

A total of 13,000 police officers were present during the summit on Monday and Tuesday, guarding the security around the NSS sites and in addition escorting about 700 rides of delegates.

"The summit elapsed dignified, safe and undisturbed. Everyday our police colleagues made an important contribution to our security partners," Arno Julsing, commander of the National Staff Special and Very Large-Scale Operations of the Dutch National Police, said in a police statement. "For many residents, the NSS had impact on their daily lives and they also delivered an important contribution thanks to their understanding and awareness."

Although there were several small protests surrounding the summit on different locations, there were no major incidents. In total, more than 140 people were arrested of which most of them are already set free, according to the police.

The NSS work of the police is not over yet, with several delegations leaving the country on Wednesday. In addition to the police force, a total of 8,000 military personnel, including soldiers, marines, military police, were involved.
