THE HAGUE, March 24 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Barack Obama on Monday morning landed in the Netherlands for the Nuclear Security Summit 2014 and will also attend a G7 leaders meeting during the summit.

Obama met with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and afterwards they gave a press conference in front of the Night Watch, the famous painting by Rembrandt in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, which was aired live by local TV.

"We talked about a wide range of subjects," Rutte said. "Also about major international security issues on Syria, Iran and Ukraine."

"The presence of so many leaders in the Netherlands this week presents important opportunities for the international community to discuss this subject as well as other issues that affect our common interest," Rutte said.

Obama finalized the press conference by praising the Netherlands for hosting the NSS 2014 before heading to The Hague, where the summit will be officially opened Monday afternoon.

Obama will also attend a meeting of leaders from the G7 countries, which consist of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Britain and the United States on Monday afternoon, according to the press conference and Dutch officials.
