5.3-magnitude quake hits 79km SSW of Taron, Papua New Guinea -- USGS

HONG KONG, March 21 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale jolted 79km SSW of Taron, Papua New Guinea at 17: 01 GMT on Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 50.13 km, was initially determined to be at 5.1516 degrees south latitude and 152.8095 degrees east longtitude.
