Russia to build 2 nuclear power plants in Iran

TEHRAN, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Russia will build two nuclear power plants in Iran's southern Persian Gulf littoral city of Bushehr, the spokesman for Iran Atomic Energy Organization Behrouz Kamalvandi was quoted as saying by official IRNA news agency on Wednesday.

Iran and Russia reached a preliminary agreement to build at least two nuclear plants in Iran, Kamalvandi told IRNA.

"According to the agreement, the capacity of each plant will be at least 1,000 megawatt and the new plants will be built by the side of the existent Bushehr nuclear power plant," Kamalvandi said.

BRUSSELS, March 10 (Xinhua) -- EU foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton has called for closer relations with Iran on condition that a permanent accord on Iran's nuclear program is reached, EUobserver reported Monday.

Ashton told a press conference in Tehran at the weekend the nuclear negotiations taking place in Vienna were "difficult, challenging" and "there is no guarantee (they) will succeed," the online newspaper quoted her as saying. Full story

Kerry urges Iran's cooperation in finding former FBI agent

WASHINGTON, March 9 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Sunday once again called for Iran's cooperation in finding Robert Levinson, a retired agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) who went missing in the Islamic republic since 2007.

"We respectfully ask the government of Iran to work cooperatively with us on the investigation into his disappearance so we can ensure his safe return," the top American envoy said in a statement. Full story
