JALALABAD, Afghanistan, March 8 (Xinhua) -- A powerful blast rocked eastern Jalalabad city killing a district governor and wounding five others on Saturday, a local official said.
"A bomb blast targeted the vehicle of Nazian district governor this morning killing him on the spot and injured five others," the official told Xinhua but declined to be identified, saying authorized officials would brief the media after investigation.
Meantime, another official with the public relation office of the provincial government confirmed the incident and said "a bomb was planted inside the vehicle of Noor Agha Kamran, the governor of Nazian district, and the device exploded at around 09:00 a.m. local time killing the district governor and injuring one police and four civilians." He did not give more details.
No group or individuals have claimed responsibility for the attack.
