WASHINGTON, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Fatalities have been confirmed and at least 10 people have been taken to hospital in a local animal feed processing plant in U.S. state of Nebraska on Monday, local media reported.
The explosion occurred on Monday morning in an International Nutrition plant in Omaha, Nebraska.
In a press conference Monday afternoon, Interim Fire Chief Bernie Kanger said there were fatalities in the explosion, but could not confirm the number before a full research of the building is to be completed, according to local media WOWT.
Thirty-eight workers were inside the building of the plant that collapsed following the explosion. At least 10 people have been taken to hospital, including four in critical condition and six with no life-threatening injuries.
Kanger said the case has been classified as an industrial accident and the cause is not yet known.
