KABUL, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- Another soldier of the NATO-led coalition was killed Monday in a Taliban attack in Afghanistan, the military alliance said.

"An International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) service member died after direct fire attack by enemy forces in southern Afghanistan today," the NATO-led ISAF coalition forces said in a press release.

The press release gave neither the nationality of the victim nor the details about the incident under the ISAF policy.

More than 84,000 ISAF troops, down from the peak of 130,000 in 2010, are currently being deployed in Afghanistan.

Earlier on Monday morning, an ISAF soldier was killed in a similar attack in the eastern part of the country.

The latest casualty brings the number of foreign soldiers killed in Afghanistan to 158 this year.
