BAGHDAD, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- At least 24 people were killed and some 108 others wounded in bomb attacks in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad on Sunday, police said.
A car bomb went off in the afternoon in Sadr City neighborhood in the eastern part of Baghdad, killing three people and wounding 15 others, a police source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
Another car bomb exploded in Husseiniyah district in northeastern Baghdad and killed three people and wounded 10, the source said.
Four more people were killed and 16 others wounded in a separate car bomb explosion in Karrada district in southern Baghdad, the source added.
Meanwhile, a car and a roadside bomb went off in Ghadeer District in eastern Baghdad, killing four people and wounding 12 others, he said.
Earlier, the source said that at least ten people were killed and some 46 others wounded in bomb attacks in Baghdad around midday.
In one attack, six people were killed and 12 wounded in a roadside bomb explosion at an outdoor market in the neighborhood of Amil in the southern part of Baghdad, the source said.
In a separate incident, another car bomb went off around noon at an intersection in Karrada district in the southern part of Baghdad, killing at least two people and wounding some 10 others, the source said.
A car bomb exploded at the industrial area in Biyaa district in southwestern Baghdad, killing at least two people and wounding 18, the source added.
In addition, six people were wounded when a roadside bomb ripped through Baghdad's southwestern suburb of Radhwaniyah, he said.
Iraq is witnessing its worst eruption of violence in recent years. According to the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq, 8,109 Iraqis were killed in the country from January to November this year.
18 killed, 34 wounded in violent attacks in Iraq
BAGHDAD, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- A total of 18 people were killed and 34 others wounded in violent attacks in Iraq on Saturday, police said.
Nine people were killed and six others injured in a shooting attack by unidentified gunmen on some alcohol shops in Waziriya district in central Baghdad on Saturday evening, a police source told Xinhua. Full story
