RAMALLAH, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Israeli soldiers on Saturday night shot dead a Palestinian child near the West Bank city of Ramallah, medical sources said.
The sources at the medical center of Palestine in Ramallah told Xinhua that the Palestinian child, 14, was shot in the back and died shortly after he was brought to the medical center.
The Israeli soldiers' gunfire hit the boy in the back and went out from the other side of his chest, the sources said, adding that all attempts to rescue his life failed.
Palestinian witnesses said the boy is from al-Jalazoon refugee camp near Ramallah.
Mahmoud Mubarak, chairman of the services committee in the refugee camp, said the boy was shot by Israeli soldiers while he was going out from his elementary school in the afternoon.
"The area was very calm and there were no clashes when the boy was shot," said Mubarak, who held the Israeli soldiers responsible for the boy's death.
There was no immediate comment on the incident from the Israeli army.
