MAIDAN, Afghanistan, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Gun battle between Taliban militants and Afghan security forces left six militants and one civilian dead in the central Wardak province on Wednesday, spokesman for provincial administration Ataullah Khogyani said Thursday. "Units of security forces raided Taliban hideouts in parts of Wardak province last night, killing six Taliban rebels including their commander Mullah Nematullah," Khogyani told Xinhua.
However, he added that the Taliban militants in reaction shot dead a guard of a school in Nurkh district last night.
Taliban militants have yet to make comment on the claim.
19 Taliban militants give up fighting in N. Afghanistan
KUNDUZ, Afghanistan, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Nineteen armed Taliban fighters gave up fighting and handed over their weapons to authorities in the northern Kunduz and Baghlan provinces on Thursday.
"A 13-member Taliban group under Mullah Abdullah laid down arms and joined peace process in Imam Sahib District of Kunduz Province this morning," Amanudin Quraishi, the governor of Imam Sahib, told Xinhua. Full story
