YANGON, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar and New South Wales of Commonwealth of Australia will cooperate in education under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) initiated in Yangon, state media reported Tuesday.

The MoU was signed between Yangon's Universities of Medicines-1 and 2 and University of Sydney and Sydney Medical School, said the New Light of Myanmar.

The MoU covers cooperation in promoting teachers' skill, students exchange program, doing research with universities and exchange of information and stationery.

The signing took place on the occasion of a visit to Myanmar by Governor of New South Wales of Commonwealth of Australia Marie Bashir.

In July, Senator and Foreign Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia Bob Carr visited Myanmar, pledging 100 million Australian dollars' grant aid to the country for its education reform.
