DAMASCUS, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Ten people were killed and many others wounded on Saturday in a car explosion in the countryside of the Syrian capital of Damascus, the state-run SANA news agency reported.
The car was detonated while some "terrorists" were booby- trapping it in the town of Yabrud near Damascus, SANA said, citing police sources as saying that all of the "terrorists" were killed as the blast also left property losses in residential buildings and shops.
The blast came after a mortar attack wounded many civilians in several districts east of Damascus, SANA said, accusing the rebels of being behind them.
In the northern city of Aleppo, two people were killed in a fresh mortar attack at the Sa'ad Allah al-Jabiri square in the heart of the city, according to SANA.
The oppositional Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Friday it had documented as high as 120,296 casualties since the beginning of the Syrian crisis in March 2011.
