5.4-magnitude quake jolts Indian-controlled Kashmir

NEW DELHI, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- A 5.4-magnitude earthquake jolted Indian-controlled Kashmir early Monday morning, without causing casualty or damage, said Indian officials.

The earthquake took place at 02:27 a.m. (2057 GMT Monday) and tremor was felt in the major towns of the area.

Indian-controlled Kashmir is located in a zone prone to earthquake.
