MOSCOW, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- At least one person died and 12 others were injured when a dwelling house in the Moscow region went ablaze, the Emergency Situations Ministry said Saturday.
The fire occurred in a 16-story house in the town of Losino- Petrovsky in Shchyolkovo district. "Preliminary information says one person has died and 12 people have been taken to hospital," ministry spokeswoman Irina RossiusRossius told the Itar-Tass news agency.
"A total of 72 people have been evacuated," Rossius said, adding two of the injured were in grave condition.
The power panels from the third to the 12th storeys were set ablaze, the ministry's local branch told reporters.
According to the authorities, short circuit could have caused the fire and criminal proceedings will be initiated.
The fire has been localized and fire-fighting and rescue units were still at the scene, authorities said.
