KIEV, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- An unidentified man killed himself and seriously wounded two border guards when he blew himself up at the Ukrainian part of the border with Russia, authorities said Friday.
According to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the incident occurred shortly after midnight at the Bachevsk checkpoint in Ukraine's northern Sumy region.
The man, who was hidden inside a minibus with Moldovan citizens, refused to show his passport to border guards and then blew himself up with an unknown explosive device.
The two guards were seriously wounded and admitted to a local hospital.
The State Border Guard Service has tightened security while the checkpoint is temporarily closed.
