ISLAMABAD, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- At least 11 people were killed and several others injured in various incidents of violence in Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi on Tuesday, local media and police said.
The major incident of firing happened in Hyderi area of the city where armed people coming on motorbikes sprayed bullets at a police mobile, killing two policemen right at the spot and injuring several others.
In another incident, a political party worker was killed in firing by unknown gunmen in North Nazimabad area of the city.
Meanwhile in Orangi Town area, three political activists were gunned down in firing by unknown attackers.
Shortly after the attack, another man was killed in firing by unknown gunmen.
Panic gripped the area following the killing and educational activities in the areas came to a standstill.
In another incident, some unknown gunmen opened fire at a police party when it was conducting an operation against militants in the Musharraf colony area. During the exchange of fire, two militants got killed.
Similarly, two people were killed and several others injured when unknown gunmen sprayed bullets in Layari area of the city.
Police and paramilitary troops Rangers conducted a targeted operation in 12 sensitive areas of the city and arrested 30 alleged insurgents.
