TEHRAN, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian will pay a visit to Moscow to confer with Russian officials on the latest developments in Syria, semi-official Fars news agency reported on Sunday.
Amir-Abdollahian will head to Moscow on Monday where he is scheduled to meet with his Russian counterpart and other top officials.
On Sunday, Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad- Javad Zarif arrived in Baghdad on an official visit to meet with the Iraqi leaders over the Syrian crisis.
Over the past weeks, Iran's Foreign Ministry has undertaken an active diplomacy over Syria in a bid to contain the moves calling for an strike on the Arab state over the alleged use of chemical weapons by the government forces against the civilians.
As a main ally of the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the region, Iran has warned that any war on Syria would have repercussions on the entire region.
