SYDNEY, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- A man had been stabbed to death and another wounded in Sydney's west, the New South Wales Police confirmed on Thursday.
Police were called to a unit on The Crescent at Berala around 2 a.m. (local time) on Thursday following reports of a disturbance.
They found two men with stab wounds.
Police said the men were taken to Westmead Hospital, where one of them died a short time later.
A third man was arrested at the unit.
The 36-year-old Berala man has been taken to Auburn Police Station for questioning.
"A man continues to assist with inquiries following a fatal stabbing at Berala, in Sydney's west, overnight," police said in a statement.
"He is an Iranian citizen who was born in Afghanistan."
Neighbors have reported hearing screaming and arguing before police arrived at the unit, according to local media reports.
A crime scene was established in the area and investigations into the incident continue.
