DAMASCUS, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Two volunteers of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) were killed on Tuesday when a mortar shell struck the organization's headquarters in the central province of Homs, the SARC said in a report on Wednesday.
The mortar struck the entrance of the SARC headquarter in the Ghouta district of Homs, the report said, giving no further details.
In an earlier statement, Abdul Rahman Attar, the head of SARC, said that "almost 100,000 Syrians have died and more than four million are displaced during the devastating conflict."
He said the huge number of people driven from their homes had created a strain on the limited humanitarian resources and capabilities within Syria.
SARC, with the help of other international NGOs, has been pushing to deliver relief aid to as many as 2.5 million Syrians on monthly bases.
Twenty-two SARC volunteers have been killed over Syria's 29- month crisis.

Kerry says Syria chemical weapons use "undeniable"
WASHINGTON, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said on Monday that the chemical-weapons use against civilians in Syria is inexcusable and "undeniable," and that President Barack Obama will make an informed decision on how to respond.
