BEIRUT, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon's caretaker Foreign Affairs Minister Adnan Mansour on Tuesday warned Israel against exploiting the situation in Syria to launch an attack on Lebanon's military party Hezbollah.
A war waged against Syria would have negative repercussions throughout the region, Mansour told the Voice of the People Radio station.
Mansour stressed that Hezbollah and the Lebanese army are able to protect his country, noting potential Israeli attacks would be no stronger than the 2006 conflict.
"Lebanon has the inherent right to defend its territory," He added.
Meanwhile, the minister assured that the military party is more ready than any time before to defend Lebanon's territories despite its participation in the Syrian fighting alongside the Syrian army.
Mansour concluded that if the United States launched a military attack against Syria, Russia would not interfere directly, as any confrontation between these two powers will result in a world war.
