DAMASCUS, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- A group of armed men committed a massacre in Syria's central province of Homs, killing 11 civilians, including women and children, the pro-government Sham FM reported Saturday.
The massacre took place near the Ain al-Ajouz village in the countryside of Homs, the report said, spelling no further details.
Also in Homs, 18 others were killed Saturday when armed rebels attacked a hotel at the Marmarita area, according to another report by a pro-government news website.
Meanwhile, the western-backed Syrian National Coalition, the main opposition umbrella group in exile, said in a statement Saturday that the government forces killed 30 people in the Bustan al-Qasser area in the northern province of Aleppo.
It also said that additional 16 people were killed in the Eastern al-Ghouta suburb of the capital Damascus as a result of the government troops' bombardment.
The Syrian government and the opposition are at each others' throats as the Syrian crisis is dragging on unabatedly with no solution in sight.
