DAMASCUS, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Syrian army on Sunday killed 14 rebel militants in an operation in the central province of Homs, pro-government radio Sham FM reported.
The army targeted rebels' positions in the town of Dar al- Kabira in northern Homs, and managed to destroy the rebels' arsenal in that area, said the report.
Also in the day, at least 11 people were killed and 20 others wounded in a fresh mortar attack launched by armed rebels against the central town of Salamieh in Hama province, state media reported, while other media said the attack came just hours after the rebels detonated a car bomb at a government troops' checkpoint in the west of Salamieh.
A day earlier, at least four people were killed when a car bomb tore through the Thawra roundabout in Hama.
Separately, the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said four civilians were killed Sunday by an airstrike against the village of Jalbeh in the northern province of al-Raqqa.
It also said the rebels targeted on Sunday the Scientific Research Center in Rashidi neighborhood in the northern province of Aleppo with multiple rockets, but did not give details on losses.
