MUMBAI, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed in poll violence during the local elections of the eastern Indian state of West Bengal on Monday morning.

One Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate's husband was killed in the bomb blast set off by unidentified people when the second phase of polling began.

Local villagers then tracked one of the attackers and beat him to death, local news channel NDTV reported.

Polling is now underway in 12,869 seats in rural bodies spread over three districts - Hooghly, East Midnapore and Burdwan in West Bengal.
