Iran's moderate presidential candidate takes lead

TEHRAN, June 15 (Xinhua) -- Iranian moderate presidential candidate, Hassan Rouhani, is leading as votes of 10 percent of the polling stations were counted, state TV reported on Saturday.

Hassan Rouhani has gained 49. 87 percent of the votes as Tehran's Mayor, Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf, got 16.65 percent and Iran's chief nuclear negotiator garnered 13.11 precept.

The accurate number of the participants in Iran's Friday presidential election has not been announced by Iran's interior ministry so far.

Nearly 50.5 million eligible voters are expected to have cast their ballot for six candidates qualified by Iran's Guardian Council of Constitution, to choose a successor to incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Iranian Interior Ministry extended the voting time for five hours in the Iranian capital Tehran on Friday due to the high turn-out of the voters.
