TOKYO, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Japan and the United States on Thursday held the first bilateral comprehensive dialogue on cyber security in an effort to set international rule and discuss countermeasures to cyber attacks, according to local media.

The two-day meeting that was held in Tokyo will conclude with joint statement on Friday. The two allies are expected to confirm their commitment to guarding against cyber threats and holding similar talks on a regular base, said Japan's Kyodo News Agency.

Osamu Imai, Japanese ambassador in charge of cyber policy, said Japan hopes to have a practical meeting to form the foundation for strengthening Japan-U.S. cooperation in the area, reported Kyodo.
