KIEV, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Three people were killed and 10 others were hospitalized in a hostel fire in Kharkiv, a city in eastern Ukraine Monday, local media reported.
The fire broke out at the nine-storey hostel at 6:13 a.m. local time (0413GMT), according to Interfax-Ukraine.
Rescuers said upon arrival at the site, they found household things were burning in the corridors of the third and the fourth floors of the building.
Forty one residents of the building were rescued through a fire ladder and stairwells.
Two women are among the dead and the injured include four children.
The fire was extinguished by firefighters at 9:00 a.m local time (0700GMT).
The causes of the fire is under investigation.
