MOSCOW, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Russia said Friday it is not interested in proposals on gas industry cooperation raised by visiting Cypriot Financial Minister Michalis Sarris.
"We have heard their proposals. Our investors were not interested in it," Finance Minister Anton Siluanov told reporters after meeting his Cypriot counterpart who has been in Moscow since Tuesday.
Sarris asked for Russia's financial support in exchange for Cyprus' gas industry assets, and offered Russian investors to buy shares of Cypriot banks.
But Siluanov said Russian investors did not show any interest in these offers. He also said the new Russian loans for Cyprus were not discussed.
In 2011, Russia provided Cyprus with a loan of 2.5 billion euro (some 3.2 billion U.S. dollars).
