CANBERRA, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd said Thursday he would not stand against incumbent Julia Gillard in a vote for the leadership of the Labor Party.

Rudd, who was rolled by Gillard in 2010, said he was a man of honor and would abide by earlier pledge not to run against her again after a leadership challenge in February last year.

Gillard has called a leadership ballot for 4.30 p.m. local time (05.30GMT) and made the announcement at the start of Thursday 's question time in the Lower House.
