SYDNEY, March 14 (Xinhua) -- The 2013 Sydney Royal Easter Show will start on Thursday at Sydney Olympic Park, with all the rides, food stalls, displays, animals and special events waiting for the crowds to arrive, Chief Operating Officer for the show Michael Collins announced on Wednesday.
The show takes place from Thursday March 21 until Wednesdays April 3.
"The show is celebrating 190 years since the very first Show was held in 1823 at Parramatta Park, and this year's Show is another amazing example of the mix of the tradition, innovation and recognition of excellence which makes this annual event so special," Collins said in a statement.
"We are Australia's biggest annual event, as well as one of the oldest and best respected agricultural Shows," Collins said.
One of the highlights of the show is the evening arena spectacular, which this year will be directed by Di Henry who has worked on many major events including the 2012 London Olympics.
The amazing mini Olympics opening ceremony style show combines spectacular lighting, pyrotechnics, special effects, taking audience into a post-apocalyptic dreamlike world.
The Sydney Royal Beer and Wine Garden is a new addition to the 2013 show, providing showgoers a pace to relax and enjoy a selection of drinks from around Australia.
