SOFIA, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Four people have been dead after a former Bulgarian military officer opened fire on his Roma neighbors on Monday, officials said Tuesday.
The 67-year-old gunman shot with a Makarov pistol at his neighbors after he had been irritated by the smell of burning tyres from his neighbors' courtyard on the outskirts of the Bulgarian capital Sofia, the interior ministry said in a press release.
A 26-year-old man was killed on the spot, his 28-year-old sister died in hospital later on Monday, and their 56-year-old mother passed away on Tuesday. The gunman who tried to commit suicide immediately after the incident also died in hospital on Tuesday.
