UNITED NATIONS, March 18 (Xinhua) -- Jeffrey Feltman, the UN under-secretary-general for political affairs, departed on Monday for a week-long visit to South Asia, which includes stops in Nepal, India and Pakistan, at the invitation of the respective governments.
"He will be in Nepal from March 19-21, where he will meet with senior officials of the government and political parties, representatives of the diplomatic corps and civil society to discuss the peace process," Eduardo del Buey, the deputy UN spokesman, said at a daily news briefing here.
Feltman will be in India on March 21-23 and in Pakistan on March 24-25, del Buey said, adding that during his stay Feltman " will meet with senior government officials and other interlocutors to discuss the countries' wide-ranging cooperation with the United Nations and issues of international concern."
The senior UN official will then travel to Doha, Qatar on March 26-27, to lead the United Nations delegation to the Summit of the League of Arab States, del Buey said.
