ISLAMABAD, March 18 (Xinhua) -- At least four persons were killed and over 30 others injured including policemen, lawyers and a judge on Monday afternoon when two suicide bombers attacked a local court in Pakistan's northwestern provincial capital of Peshawar, local media and officials said.
According to the officials, the incident took place at around 12:20 p.m. (local time) when two suicide bombers stormed the Judicial Complex located at the Jail Road in the downtown area of Peshawar, the capital of Pakistan's northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The city police chief Imtiaz Altaf told media that the two assailants reached the complex from different sides and one of them entered the court of an Additional Session Judge and hurdled a grenade at the judge before detonating his explosive jacket in the courtroom.
Eyewitness said that around 45 people were present in the court for hearing when the attack took place.
After the suicide blast, the other attacker wearing an explosive jacket rushed to another court but police guards shot him dead before he reached his target.
Soon after the attack, police, security forces and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the injured to the Lady Reading Hospital of the city.
Local media quoting some eyewitness reported that attack took place in the court room where some high profile prisoners belonging to a band militant organization were facing prosecution.
Earlier reports said that a group of 10 to 15 armed militants attacked the complex but police chief rejected the claims and said there were only two attackers who had been killed.
The police chief also confirmed the four causalities including three policemen and over 30 others injured including policemen, women and lawyers while adding that many of the injured were in critical condition.
According to the local media reports, the Additional Session Judge Kalsoon Azam was also severely injured in the attack who was shifted to the Combined Military Hospital where he was being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation against possibly of hiding militants in the building of the Judicial Complex and later declared it clear.
No militant group of organization has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
ISLAMABAD, March 12 (Xinhua) -- At least two policemen were killed and 18 others injured when a suicide bomber rammed his explosive laden motorbike into a police mobile in Pakistan's northwest district of Bannu on Tuesday afternoon, local media reported.

Express TV said that the incident happened at about 1:00 p.m. ( local time) when a bomb exploded outside a police station located in Saddar area of Bannu, a volatile district in the country's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Full story
