KIEV, March 14 (Xinhua) -- An International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission would arrive on March 27 to resume talks with the Ukrainian authorities on a new stand-by loan program, the IMF office here announced Thursday.
The IMF's representative in Ukraine, Max Alier, said the visit was "at the request of the authorities".
Negotiations between Ukraine and the IMF about possible financial assistance have been taking place since February 2011, when the previous 15-billion-U.S.-dollar stand-by loan program was frozen.
Although the IMF mission announced "progress in Ukraine's financial system stabilization," during its last visit in late January, there has been no decision on releasing the next 15-billion-dollar tranche of the loan package, with disagreement over gas costs still a stumbling block.
