MOSCOW, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Moscow has sent another humanitarian consignment to Syria, the Emergency Situations Ministry said Tuesday.
"An aircraft Il-62 carrying 11 tons of cargo departed at 10:05 Moscow time (0605 GMT) to (the Syrian city of) Latakia," the ministry's spokeswoman Irina Rossius told reporters.
She said the plane carried blankets and foods for civilians in the combat-affected areas of Syria.
Russia conducted similar operations in the past few months. On Feb. 19, two Russian planes delivered 46 tons of humanitarian aid to the same Syrian coastal city.
On their way back, the planes have picked up 99 Russian nationals and citizens of other Commonwealth of Independence States countries who wished to leave the war-torn country.
