YANGON, March 10 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar will upgrade its Chin State as tourist site as it saw a surge in number of foreign tourists last year, official media reported Sunday quoting Ministry of Hotels and Tourism.
The ministry will conduct tourist courses aimed at untapping new business model of tourist there for its economic growth.
Better transportation has increased the number of visitors to Chin State, said the sources.
Chin State, which is situated in western Myanmar, stands at an altitude of over 1,525 meters and is a picturesque place with mountains and eucalyptus forests.
Myanmar's political and economic reform has attracted more number of foreign tourists to Myanmar, expecting that up to two million international tourists will visit Myanmar annually in the coming years especially from Western Europe.
Myanmar could bring in over 1 million world tourists to the country in 2012, an increase of 200,000 compared with 2011 in light of significant changes in the country during the year.
