TRIPOLI, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Libyan Prime Minister Ali Zaidan announced on Sunday that the military and the interior ministry will form a joint force to evacuate all buildings occupied by armed groups.
The Chief of Staff and Minister of Interior have signed an agreement to form the joint force, which will evacuate all occupied buildings, whether they are homes, headquarters, camps or public buildings.
Such occupied buildings have become dens of drugs and sins, according to the prime minister.
Speaking at a press conference in the presence of several ministers and other government officials, Zaidan said the Libyan government does not want to see weapons out of the control of the police or the army.
The capital of Tripoli has witnessed many cases of kidnapping, raids, armed manifestation and terrorism; so does other cities in the country, said the prime minister.
Zaidan said any armed group in Libya that does not subject to the army or the police will be considered as illegal, calling on such groups to hand over their weapons to the state.
