TEHRAN, March 3 (Xinhua) -- The Iranian government dismissed a recent report by the UN special investigator on human rights in Iran, local media reported on Sunday.

In the report released Thursday, Ahmed Shaheed, the UN special rapporteur on human rights situation in Iran, voiced concerns about the current human rights situation in Iran.

On Saturday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast called the report "unsubstantiated, biased and a repetition of the Western allegations against Tehran," according to Press TV.

Shaheed collated the information from anti-Iranian media outlets and terrorist groups, Mehmanparast was quoted as saying.

Saying that Shaheed's recent report lacks "legal credibility," Mehmanparast added that the Islamic republic is eternally committed to respecting human dignity and the basic rights of the people in line with its constitution and religious teachings.

Tehran will continue to abide by its international obligations despite all the anti-Iran propaganda, he went on saying.
