BELGRADE, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- 35th International Tourism Fair, with over 1000 exhibitors from 45 states kicked off Thursday in Belgrade.
Belgrade Tourism Fair (BTF) is the biggest event of this kind in the region of South East Europe, and is to help better positioning of Serbia in economic and cultural sense, said Bratislav Petkovic, Serbian Minister of Culture opening the manifestation.
"Tourism is a very important industry branch, which in countries of the EU takes from 5 up to 25 percent of GDP, with annual turnover of over 350 billion of Euro," said President of European association of tourist agencies Boris Zgomba, adding that equally, tourism is of immense importance for the countries of the Balkan region.
Germany, this year's partner of BTF, has chosen culture as its axial topic, and same did Serbia famous for its medieval monasteries, and city fortifications, while regional partner of the BTF is town of Budva in Montenegro.
Simultaneously within BTF, International fair of vines and vine production technology Beo Wine 2013 is taking place at Belgrade fairground, gathering some 140 exhibitors from 13 countries.
