TEHRAN, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Fereidoon Abbasi, said that the upcoming nuclear talks between Tehran and the P5+1 -- Britain, China, France, Russia, the United States and Germany -- should focus on "cooperation," Tehran Times daily reported on Thursday.

The fresh round of talks between Iran and the P5+1 will take place in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on Feb. 26.

"We will talk about the future of energy in the world and the role of each country in the welfare of human society," said Abbasi.

"I have always been optimistic about the outcome of talks," he said, adding that if the major powers take these realities into consideration, "we will not have any problem."

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said Tuesday that the Kazakhstan meeting could bear "quick results" provided that a "logical approach" is adopted and Iran's rights are recognized.

Iran and the West are locked in a bitter dispute over its nuclear activities, with the latter accusing Tehran of developing nuclear weapon under a civilian cover, a charge Iran has consistently denied.
